This is the third movement of my Te Deum for SATB choir, SATB soloists and chamber orchestra. The entire work is a dystopian setting of this sacred text that was once used for celebratory purposes. The Tu Rex Gloriae is the only movement that is a cappella and the only part of the piece to use Renaissance polyphony, a deliberate reference to centuries- old settings of this text
Tu Rex gloriae, Christe.
Tu Patris sempiternus es Filius.
Tu ad liberandum suscepturus hominem,
non horruisti Virginis uterum.
Tu devicto mortis aculeo,
aperuisti credentibus regna coelorum.
Tu ad dexteram Dei sedes,
in gloria Patris.
Translation:
You are the King of glory, O Christ.
You are the eternal Son of the Father.
To deliver us, you became human,
and did not disdain the Virgin's womb.
Having blunted the sting of death,
You opened the kingdom of heaven to all believers.
You sit at the right hand of God,
in the glory of the Father.
